I left my dog alone and he got hot and panicked. Now my summer is ruined.

Hi there! I’m in a desperate state right now! This is all my fault as everything is when it comes to owners / dogs. After a hot day here in Sweden (it doesn’t happen often so we and our dogs are not used to it) I left my dog Benny (Australian / Lab) alone after our daily adventure to go to the gym like I do every day . He has been perfectly fine and appreciating his sleep time only since he was maybe 4 months old, he is now around 16 months old. I came home after an hour or so with a barking dog and I was absolutely in a panic that it tried to break down the door … I could hear it from the back of my apartment (we are on the fourth floor), it was obvious that the apartment it was hot as the windows had been closed by the wind and her body temperature was still warm from the sun. Since then he cannot be alone, as long as there is another person he is fine, but not alone. I am a single guy working from home (thank goodness) but right now life is absolutely horrible because I feel so isolated and yes I know it is my fault this happened but I am ready to start working towards where we were. Does anyone here have any similar experiences? the problem I feel is that he has a panic attack after a couple of minutes and starts whining and then barking excessively pretty quickly. Then it doesn’t stop. I realize that I need to start over and from the beginning. But what exercises and how often should I do them? Please share if you have any input that you think might help me. / Benny the Australian
