What to do when a dog attacks you

I have a blue heeler / border collie / aussie rescue mix that is 1 year and 2 months old and not neutered. My sister had it before she gave it to me. He was absent a minimum of 16 hours a day on most days. His roommate locked him in my sister’s room while my sister was gone. It was in the height of summer with no air conditioning until my sister realized what her roommate was doing. Earlier, I think he thought I would lock him in a room. He reached over to me and it was like frantically groping me, so I stroked him and spoke to him and calmed him down, but when I turned to close the door, he lunged, started biting and scratching me and didn’t stop or back away. . I tried to hold it down / still where it would hopefully calm down and keep its teeth away from me, but it only made it worse. He repeatedly attacked me and bit and scratched me. One of my cats came over and started hissing while spitting and it distracted him for a while so I backed away but he was still cornered in the hallway but he came running towards me again. I ended up having to shove him into the laundry room and lock him up there. There is a hole in my nipple and a laceration where it grabbed while gravity was pulling it down, as well as a few more lacerations that are milder but still bleed. I’m definitely going to get a scarred nipple 👹👹 I also have fewer minor bite marks on my arm and hand and one on my thigh, as well as a ton of scratches. He’s done this to me a couple of times in the past, the first time I was going to try to put him on ‘time out’ at my sisters’ apartment and then he freaked out, but he didn’t bite, it was just loud and scratching me. Later that day, he pounced on me for a burrito that he stole from me and that I was trying to get back. Mainly I wonder what to do when it starts attacking. I don’t know what to do and I don’t have the balls to stay there until it stops. I don’t want to cause fear that I realize that having it may still have caused it. It only weighs 30 pounds, so it can’t do any real damage. I can deal with its bites and scratches, but it’s intimidating when a little ball of fury is hurled hard and fast. I know he’s not a bad dog. He is normally very loving, loyal, protective, intelligent, and absolutely amazing. I never hit or hurt him. I told everyone in the house how to prevent situations where he freaks out (like using a treat to give him while you take what he had and what he was growling about, and then when he starts kicking and jumping you like he did before) . very, very, very rarely, they yell at you. I’ve had it at home for about a week. We will sterilize you soon and also consult with a professional trainer or behaviorist.
