What last question to ask myself before breaking up?

TL; DR: I’m thinking of breaking out and would love to know how to find out if that’s the right idea. Hey so, my boyfriend (late twenties) and I (mid twenties) have been together for about 1.5 years. I recently wrote a post about how he wants to control what I wear (link in comments), but there are bigger issues besides controlling clothes, who I have contact with and I don’t like him doing night shifts. Those are still a bit ‘okay’ for me. But he is also treating me in a very disrespectful and hostile way. He doesn’t hurt me physically, but he treats me badly with words, actions, assaults and his moods. It gets ridiculous and that’s not how anyone should treat anyone, especially when they claim to be in love. But it is not like that all the time. Much of the time he’s all sweet and caring, which obviously complicates things. He is quite traditional in his views on how a relationship should be and I don’t feel like we live together and he feels safe having / holding me, it has gotten worse. But we have had our problems quite early in the relationship. For him, everything is drama, but all I want is to live in peace. Aside from all this mess, we get along so well, I’ve never been so familiar with anyone. I would love to live this couple thing for life, I’m a loyal person and so forth, but the way he treats me is not right. The first few times I thought it was a phase, but … well, it definitely isn’t (or it’s probably a dauer phase). He says he’s become a better human being since we’ve been together, I see it, but it’s still not a pleasant way to treat me (or most people, but I doubt we have a future together and I have been. ). at this point several times before. But when everything is fine again, everything is fine. And all. I’d rather fix the relationship, but I feel like it’s his whole personality that’s the way it is. Now, I ask you: what last Question (s) could I ask myself to find out what the correct decision would be?
